Glenfiddich Fire and Cane Experiment 04 Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700mL
Glenfiddich Fire and Cane Experiment 04 --> Here is the story Back in 2003, Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman ran peated spirit through the distillery’s stills. (Note that because this is Glenfiddich, the peaty aromas and flavours you’ll get will be unlike those of your traditional Islays. The peat used in Fire & Cane is from Speyside, collected from the hills.) Kinsman then married the result of that highly noteworthy experiment with bourbon-matured, non-peated whisky—the Glenfiddich that we’re all familiar with. So that yielded a whisky that was smoky yet fruity.
Kinsman who has had free reign make these experimental whiskies had the brilliant idea of finishing the married whisky in Latin rum casks—sourced from a number of South American countries—for three months. In the end, he got a peated 43% ABV Scotch that comes in at 5 ppm (phenol parts per million)—quite good work for a distillery that doesn’t typically make smoky Scotches.
Fire & Cane comes in a coloured glass that seamlessly transitions from a black/brown base to clear glass, displaying the world’s best-selling single malt Scotch whisky. The bottle was designed to showcase the juxtaposing flavours physically with the shift in colour.
