In 1760, a sugar mill began crushing cane at the current site of the Cruzan Rum distillery on the island of St. Croix. Since the early 1800's the Nelthropp family has lived on and been and integral part of this legendary island's rich history. Cruzan Single Barrel is a two step process. First we blend 5-12 year old rum, which has been produced in small batches and aged in American oak. Then we give the blend a secondary ageing for 6-12 moths in single white American oak barrels.
